Oil prices are modestly higher this morning on news of the death of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. The king was 92, and he was a voice and actor of moderation, in as much as that term has meaning, within the greater Middle East. Abdullah pushed back hard against extremists, and openly advocated for the overthrow of Syria’s Assad and wanted the US to attack Iran.
